Collins' Winds - "Helps piece it together" "Think cork grease is all the same...and what's the difference if it's not? As a woodwind technician for over 30 years, and former saxophone maker for Keilwerth, I've corked and recorked thousands of necks & tenons. Surprisingly, over 75% of those damaged were not due from abuse by the player, but more likely from the cork grease makers' blend. I am amazed at the growth of after-market products for one's horn...whether it be for the tiny "pic" to the mighty contra bassoon. Finding just about anything to enhance the ease of one's playing or products that provide the care for such instruments are abundant. However, one product has basically remained the same for decades....cork grease. It was horrid then and to my dismay, it still is...until now! Aside from the medicinal odor cork grease "proudly" shares to the world, the components of its making in reality does more damage to the cork than good. Most cork grease manufacturers do little more to their lubricant (typically an animal fat by-product or refined oil sludge) than to add a stabilizer and/or preservative. When added all up, this recipe is sub par for the cork's porous body. Even the so-called "premium" grades are comprised of just 2 to 3 lubricants, my cork grease has 7! Using some of Mother Nature's finest lubricants such as beeswax, aloe vera and vitamin E oil, even the fragrance oil is of the highest standard. Each batch is "hand made" from start to finish. With my homemade recipe the cork's spongy-like character stays alive much longer. To put it simply....'There is none better.' Oh! and by the way...it comes in 30 incredible fragrances. Plus a non-smelling grease (a historical first!) lol"
Available in lip balm and jar containers.
