This work for flugelhorn and string quartet investigates the integration of classical and jazz music. Following a simple melodic statement by the flugelhorn, accompanied by ‘cello, the string quartet provides a constantly shifting texture for the flugelhorn to weave an improvisation through. The composition was created as a response to the novel Vurt, by Jeff Noon.
