Douglas Worthen
Douglas Worthen received his undergraduate degree at the Ham School, where he studied under John Wumrner. He received a full scholarship to L ‘institut de Hautes Etudes Musicales in Montreux, Switzerland, where he studied with Maxence Larrieu and Aurèle Nicolet. While based in Zurich, he continued performing in Das Trio Ars Nova and studied with André Jaunet. After returning to the United States, Mr. Worthen completed a Masters of Music at New England Conservatory, and became a proponent of the Baroque flute, performing with the Quantz Baroque Trio, Boston Baroque, and The Handel and Haydn Society. His recording with the Mannheim Quartet and the works of Sigfrid Karg-Elert on the Leonarda label have received critical acclaim. Recently, he presented Masterclasses in New England, Burgundy, France: Vaud, Switzerland; and Japan. A recording of the Flute Sonatas, op. 91, of Joseph Bodin de Boismortier. is in production. He performs regularly with the Nashua Symphony and Granite State Symphony. In 2007, Mr. Worthen is scheduled to complete a DMA in Flute Performance with John Wion at the Ham
