Holton C Melody Jackie Coogan
This is a wonderful vintage saxophone that belonged to the well known actor Jackie Coogan. For those old enough to remember, Jackie Coogan first gained fame starring with Charlie Chaplin in "The Kid" (1921), and was later known as Uncle Fester on the television series, "The Addams Family," in the 1960's, along with many other movies in between. He apparently also played the saxophone and promoted the Holton Saxophone as seen in the partial ad clipping below (ad NOT included). His saxophone was almost as big as he was when this ad came out in the 20's.

This saxophone was manufactured by Frank Holton & Co. in Elkhorn, Wis. as engraved on the piece, below the name, "Jackie Coogan," as well as stamped on the music holder, and stated on the brass, manufacture's plate attached to the top of the case. There is a second brass plate above the locking latch that states, "Platt Music Co., everything in music, Los Angeles, California."
