Used Martin Custom large bore C trumpet in silver plate. This trumpet is in excellent condition with minor signs of use, not affecting playability. From the collection of James Darling, former trumpet player of the Cleveland Orchestra.
"This letter is in regards to my Martin Custom C Trumpet, serial number 217856.
I purchased this instrument in 1963 while an undergraduate student of Jack Hyatt at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky. It was my first C trumpet. I played it, along with many other trumpets, from that time until I retired from The Cleveland Orchestra in 2005.
I used it in many Orchestra Concerts, solo Recitals, Brass Quintet Concerts, and Chamber Music Concerts during those 42 years. The Martin proved to be an especially excellent trumpet for performances of the Poulenc Trio. I had it silver-plated at the King factory in Eastlake, Ohio during my years as a member of The Cleveland Orchestra.
I played this trumpet during my years at the University of Kentucky, as a Graduate Assistant at the University of Illinois, during 4 years as a Professor at Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory of Music, and for 32 years as a member of The Cleveland Orchestra.
