Used Bach New York 6/16 Hybrid Bb tenor trombone in lacquer finish. This trombone includes a New York Bach 6 bell and a New York Bach 16 slide. Features include a .495"/.509" dual bore lightweight handslide and a 7" yellow brass bell. Instrument is in good condition for its age apart from surface scratching, lacquer wear (with heavier lacquer wear on the slide), and evidence of dent repair to the bell throat. Includes case.
This instrument is part of the Tom "Bones" Malone collection. Bones had played the bell of this very instrument on The Late Show with David Letterman.
Here is what Bones has to say about the NY Bach 6:
"The NY Bach 6 is what I played in the Blues Brothers movie, David Letterman Show, Saturday Night Live and 1,500 recording sessions for records & movies. Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Urbie Green, Bill Watrous, Jack Jenny & Jack Teagarden played the NY Bach.
The metal alloy of these pre war horns is more resonant. 72% copper, 28% zinc was Vincent Bach’s favorite alloy. The commercially available alloy was changed when World War II started because the main purpose of brass became bullet shells."
