Description

Used Bach New York 6 Bb tenor trombone in lacquer finish. Features include a .485" bore handslide and 7" yellow brass bell. Instrument is in good condition for its age with surface scratching, lacquer wear, dings, and a minor spot of plating wear, not affecting playability. The bell does not include the model designation on the bell, while the handslide is marked as a Model 6. Includes original case.

This instrument is part of the Tom "Bones" Malone collection. Bones had played the bell of this very instrument on The Late Show with David Letterman.

Here is what Bones has to say about the NY Bach 6:

"The NY Bach 6 is what I played in the Blues Brothers movie, David Letterman Show, Saturday Night Live and 1,500 recording sessions for records & movies.  Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Urbie Green, Bill Watrous, Jack Jenny & Jack Teagarden played the NY Bach.

The metal alloy of these pre war horns is more resonant.  72% copper, 28% zinc was Vincent Bach’s favorite alloy.  The commercially available alloy was changed when World War II started because the main purpose of brass became bullet shells."
