Description
Used Bach New York 6 Bb tenor trombone in lacquer finish. Features include a .485" bore handslide and 7" yellow brass bell. Bell is marked 415, which is the mandrel on which the bell was fabricated. Instrument is in fair condition with heavy lacquer wear and scratching, dings, evidence of dent repair in the bell flare, main tuning slide, and handslide crook, and heavy plating wear on the handslide. Includes a non-original Bach case. This instrument is part of the Tom "Bones" Malone collection. Bones had played the bell of this very instrument on The Late Show with David Letterman.
Here is what Bones has to say about the NY Bach 6:
"The NY Bach 6 is what I played in the Blues Brothers movie, David Letterman Show, Saturday Night Live and 1,500 recording sessions for records & movies. Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Urbie Green, Bill Watrous, Jack Jenny & Jack Teagarden played the NY Bach.
The metal alloy of these pre war horns is more resonant. 72% copper, 28% zinc was Vincent Bach’s favorite alloy. The commercially available alloy was changed when World War II started because the main purpose of brass became bullet shells."
